Pulp And Foil Liners

Liners are often an overlooked component within a packaging system. It is wise to pay close attention when considering a liner due to its direct contact with the contents of a container. The lack of awareness of liners and their varying properties can lead to leakage, shortened shelf life, and diminished package integrity. In this Packaging Crash Course post, we’ll review one of the many liner options available in the rigid packaging industry: Pulp/Aluminum Foil (PAF).

What Are Pulp And Foil Liners Made Of?

PAF liners comprise a two-ply construction: one disk layer of cardboard (pulp) material bonded to a second disk layer of aluminum foil. A single side of the foil disc is coated with a thin polyester film.

What Do Pulp And Foil Liners Do And What Products Do They Work Well With?

As an odor and taste-resistant liner, PAF liners are often associated with food packaging and are great for dry products. These liners are resistant to hydrocarbons and work well with packaging containing motor fluids, non-acidic products, and dry ingredients, making them a viable liner option for various applications.
